OpenShift 3, the open source Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), brings Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration into an easy-to-use, multi-language application deployment and auto-scalability environment. Managing large clusters based on virtualized infrastructure can get tricky, especially with the added complexity of networking in an environment with 2 layers of multi-tenancy: the VMs and the containers. At Dell, we are working with Red Hat to integrate OpenShift into our validated OpenStack reference architecture—this requires the integration of the OpenStack Neutron networking API to meet OpenShift's needs. In this presentation, we'll be reviewing the configuration details and integration strategies we used and demonstrate the basic scale-up, scale-down, and multi-tenancy features of OpenShift on Dell’s OpenStack reference architecture.
