Getting involved in OpenStack development is not a difficult task. Given the will and commitment, one can easily become an integrated part of the community.

This is a story of few months learning and hard work, what I would have done differently if I was starting now. Where does one find all the resources to understand what is going on? Why it is so important to look beond the code? Where is the line between personal (or employer's) and community's priorities?

And also the reality check on benefits and caveats working on open source.
