A Year with Cinder and Ceph at TWC

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This talk is focused on how our Cinder environment has evolved from day 0 thru today.  This includes our initial pains with finding a good storage subsystem, as well as some of our experiences with tuning our CEPH environment.  Our testing and results were performed by a team of people who previously worked in traditional IT environments providing systems and storage for bare metal and vendor licensed virtual environments.

we will talk about:

Cinder

  • Evaluating storage

  • Basic design roadblocks

  • Traditional vs “grid” type storage

  • Live migration??

Ceph

  • Our experiences with Ceph

  • Plan properly from the start

  • What is Ceph tuned for?

  • Pain points

This is an open discussion to share some of the information we have gathered in hopes of helping people avoid some of the same issues we have encountered.
