Growing OpenStack at Time Warner Cable

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In early 2014, Time Warner Cable began an initiative to transform internal IT operations using OpenStack. Over the next 6 months we grew a team and deployed OpenStack in two data centers and offered it to our customers with self-service features like geo-redundant object storage and global identity. Come listen to us talk as we discuss how we solved technical and cultural challenges as we grew our cloud and added service offerings. This talk will specifically cover the following areas:

  • How we moved from requirements to reality while growing the team.

  • Initial mistakes and how we solved them.

  • How we deliver SDN to our customers.

  • How we use global identity to facilitate DR.

  • How we took a team of developers and systems people and merged them into a cohesive DevOps team.

  • How we use multiple environments to form a release train, ensuring code is tested before it goes to production.
