Dive into VM Live Migration

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Use cases for VM live migration may differ. Some focus on VMs availability while other on optimal resource utilization or preserving SLA. Each use case has specific requirements for storage, network or hypervisor configuration. How to pick solution which will best fit into your needs and will not cost you a lot (money, time or mental health :))?

While working on hardening VM live migration feature in Openstack, we have tested several standard and custom configurations trying to find and fix the issues and optimize its performance.

In our session we will walk you through selected live migration configurations in your OpenStack environment. We will show how to avoid common pitfalls, diagnose problems and optimize performance by digging into cloud configuration, network topologies, storage solutions and hypervisor adjustments. Speaking about future of VM live migration in OpenStack we'd like to share some insight on ongoing work and ideas of possible further improvements.
